Founded in 1998, the Basle-based firm Christ & Gantenbein has build up a constant body of applied and theoretical work. The extension of Kunstmuseum Basel and the renovation and extension of the Landesmuseum Zürich are in the spotlight in most specialist journals at the moment. The firm also works on office and housing projects as well as taking on more marginal commissions, bordering on installation, monument or sculpture, such as the Pilgrim’s Column in Ruta del Peregrino and the The Swiss Church, London. Alongside their body of building work, the two associates have always been involved in teaching (ETH Studio Basel, HGK Basel, Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, Oslo School of Architecture and Design, ETH Zurich,
Harvard GSD). They have also published several review collections under the title 'Typology', which represents a systematic and subjective inventory of architectural works throughout the world.
