Rik Wouters is one of the most famous artists of the movement called Fauvism. He brought us bright and colourful art, far from the dramas that marked his existence until his early death in 1916 at the age of only 33. Rik Wouters equally mastered painting, sculpting and drawing: his extraordinary career has made him an essential representative of Modern Art in Belgium.
The retrospective exhibition organized by the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, in cooperation with the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp, is exceptional as for the first time, the two museums bring together the most important works by this artist. Rare loans from private collections and major international museums complete the show.
Afterwards I propose to go for a drink together to discuss our impressions and experiences. Obviously this second part is optional so don't worry about it if you are not able to join us.
