In celebration of World Refugee Day, Amnesty Ixelles, Caritas International, ICMC Europe, and Serve the City Brussels cordially invite you for our open-air event at Place Flagey on June 20th.
The activities start at 16.00 with an open debate on ‘Volunteering for refugees: citizens responses in Brussels – what have we learned? at Flagey's studio 3 (entrance: Place Sainte-Croix)
As of 19.00 the programme will continue outside at Place Flagey, with a musical performance by Refugees Got Talent where we invite you to join us for a drink and an exchange of ideas on how to promote solidarity and to involve citizens in local integration.
At 22.00 we will celebrate Iftar and show an outdoor projection of Sanctuary/Sustenance: The Story of Many Journeys, a multimedia film which offers viewers the opportunity to trace the journey of a family during the events of displacement, on a path to sanctuary, and through the long process of rebuilding life in a new community.
Sanctuary/Sustenance aims to raise the public consciousness of refugee issues to a wide variety of people, and to facilitate conversations about our collective responsibility to welcome refugees and encourage policy makers to act in favor of fundamental human rights for refugees and asylum seekers.
