Angelo Gregorio is a very active Brussels jazz saxophonist and will presents, during the aperitivo at Domenica, his new album «Ceci n'est pas un trio».
By the name «Ceci n'est pas a trio» Angelo wants to give homage to the country that welcomed him, Belgium, referring to Magritte's surrealism. But why? The reason lies in the band:
Soprano Saxophone, Tenor — A. Gregorio
Organ — J. Gillain
Drums — L. Vanderputten
The use of the organ, in addition to making a particular sound, fulfills the bass function and the listener could very easily think that four musicians are playing and not three.
The trio was born at the end of 2013 by the meeting between the three musicians, who at that time attended the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and soon thanks to their repertoire, festive and very well played, they played in various clubs and participate in festivals like «Brussels Jazz Weekend», «Bruxelles Champetre and more.
At the heart of this trio is the passion for the great era of New Orleans and Swing, which began with the first jazz records of ODJB in 1917 till the swing of the great orchestras of the 40s.
